“To me, love is giving and not expecting something in return.”

Two months into our circuit breaker, a minor furore erupted in our little community over a Straits Times-commissioned survey which placed artists at the top of a list of “non-essential” occupations. I refused to wade into the heated debate because I felt it was just petty, pointless and reductive. And out of the blue, a kind stranger sent Pangdemonium this message: “Please keep doing what you do, creating theatre that touches lives. The rewards for us are immeasurable.” To me, this message was not just an expression of support, validation and endorsement, it was a show of love.
